Biography:
Leonard "Doc" Samson first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #141 (July 1971). He began his career as Dr. Leonard Samson, a psychiatrist working with Bruce Banner.
Samson exposed himself to gamma radiation, similar to what transformed Banner, hoping to gain superhuman abilities and cure Banner. While he succeeded in gaining superhuman strength and endurance, and his hair turned green (later longer and even crazier), he only temporarily cured Banner and found his strength tied to his hair length. Shorter hair, less strength, longer hair, more strength.
Samson has been both a foe and ally to the Hulk, often trying to help Banner control his transformations. He has also served as a government advisor and worked with various superhero teams.
